Hi guys

I dropped something on the screen of my m700 and now it's a whitescreen so I guess I need a screen replacement. I've contacted a few mobile repairers and they all say no.

I found some instructions for taking it apart and installing a new screen myself and I'm kinda up for that or a send-off repair. I'm in the UK.

E-ten have simply ignored my multiple requests.

So .. anyone know where I can either get a repair or buy a new screen so I can repair it myself? Actually, the UK thing isn't too important, I'll send it off wherever if I have to.

Cheers
J

i think its not worth the trouble if its the display.

i think, here, romania, could be done but shipping + display its not worth it

are u sure its the display? i dropped mine a few times ... in warranty ... and the screen went white when sliding the keyboard and after a few weeks went white no matter what ...

in my case they had to replace the ribbon that connects the display ... so was easy ...

if u can i suggest to take yours apart and see if anything happens when u move the ribon ... u may get luky ... i think i can send you the ribon if thats the problem ... i'll talk to the guys in eten service in romania and tell you their opinion also ...

thx.

I've had same issue. Last year, I bought one screen from china.

After some searchs, I found this http://cgi.ebay.fr/E...707178001r12610

Check with seller if totally compliant...

I hope it will help.

if you havent resolved your screen problems, i have the answer from eten service in romania

screen replacement (including screen offcourse) 120 euros ... + shipping from and to you ... they have stock so the repair should take about 7-15 day depending on shipping time of your device ...

cheers

PS: as i said before ... it might not worth the trouble ... although they offer 6 months warranty on repair

Thanks very much guys for all your help. I ordered a screen from the French company (in French I might add!), and found a better guide to dismantling here (translated from the Russian) http://translate.goo...history_state0= .. plus, I've found my microscrewdriver set that I'd lost for a few months so it's all green lights, I'll let you know how I get on.

OK, this might be obvious to you guys and I expected it, but I thought I had the tools and I haven't. It seems phones commonly use TORX screws and I haven't got the required tool so I'm ordering http://www.maplin.co...?ModuleNo=36461

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torx

.. and, although I ordered from that French company and all was well, the product arrived labelled from http://www.ukmobi.co.uk .. so maybe they are drop shipping for the French company. ukmobi.co.uk doesn't list the product on its website though.

OK people, you're amazing, thank you so much. I got my screen, I installed it. It works. Wow.

So, for those that follow, here are a few things to add to that set of instructions on the Russian site. Some might be obvious if you dismantle phones for a living, but it wasn't obvious to me:

Nothing requires brute force. At 5 .. not sure I remember but it was more of a twist I think. At 8 the casing separates not where the silver meets the grey, but below that. Those slots that look like they are for pushing your screwdriver into, that's not it, it's below there. At 10, that is a vertical pull off the board. At 14 again it's not brute force. At 16, the plastic clip lid unclips on a hinge, releasing the cable connector.

Two other things:

At 9, those screws are not those Torq ones I had to buy, they are Philips (size 0 I think). So you'll need those.

And after I got it working, the screen needed recalibrating .. where I was touching isn't where was registering. Windows->Settings->Display or thereabouts there's a utility to allow you to set that up.

Right, now I've got it working, I'll have more questions about how to get it to do what I want .. but that's for another thread.

Thanks again to all who helped, much appreciated.
J
