 HOW TO UPDATE:
					   0) !! CHARGE YOUR BATTERY !!
					   1) Synchronise with Outlook (or backup all your data somehow)
					   2) Copy the following files to the root of microSD (formatted into [b]FAT16[/b] filesystem) card:
						   - USBDLUpdate_Console.exe
						   - temp.bin
					   3) Put the card into M700
					   4) Enter bootloader mode (press and hold Camera button, Record button [the one close to
						  vol+/vol- buttons] and Power button; press Reset while keeping all above buttons PRESSED;
						  keep the buttons PRESSED [except Reset] until M700 shows "USB Downloader ***" etc.)
					   5) If your card is formatted correctly, you should see the following info:
						   USB Downloader 0019
						   Flash Capacity=128MB
					   
						   USB Downloader Ready.
						   SD Card In
						   Find SDMMC Card.
						   File= TEMP	BIN
						   Program Image from SDMMC
						   [etc]
					   
					   6) The flashing should start. Wait till it passes "EDGE Download status : " and finally
						  shows "USB host is not connected yet."
					   7) Make a HARD-RESET: remove the battery for a couple of seconds, reinsert it, close the 
						  back cover, press and hold Hangup button (red one;), press Power buton. Keep the Hangup
						  pressed until "Errase all data" question appears. As soon as it pops up, release the Hangup
						  button and press and hold Left Softkey.
					   8) Enjoy;)

I have tried flashing this ROM and I get an error when I go to Bootloader mode that indicates an invalid image file. Evidently it doesn't like the temp.bin file. I have loaded both files onto a blank 2GB microSD card. Any ideas?

Try formatting the SD card to FAT16.

Could you provide the tools you used to cook the ROM!?!? And even better could you do an Guide to cook ROM's?
How did you manage to change the infamous "Turn on Wifi"?

I would love to see that too!! It still is a bit "mysterious" to me, even after reading the cooking X500 thread...

to use the midlet for 3d java games just add the files from the jeodek3d version in the windows folder, if wanted i can upload

Couldn't believe myself - just add [HKLM\ControlPanel\WrlsMgr] "Redirect"="WirelessManager.exe"
(can be changed to "wrlsmgr.exe" to use generic MS manager, however wifi is unavailable until preloaded :/
will have to read about x800 ROM with Eten wireless manager removed). This also puts Wireless Manager
back to Control Panel.

Damn, didn't notice any changes in sound quality. I've included it 'cause it is said to be installed as first, before all other CABs.
(It replaces the radio startup driver).
Memory after hard reset:

Storage:
   Total:  57,20MB
   In use:  4,35MB
   Free:   52,85MB

Program:
   Total:  47,67MB
   In use: 17,28MB
   Free:   30,18MB

(CABs skipped; btw - the MMS CAB contains only reg entries ;) )

Maybe it is stupid, am pc-greenhorn, but...I have followed X500 thread instructions, so ext.rom is managed :woohoo: , but after rom dumping-when "_imgfs_unpack.bat" has created the dump folder...how did you manage to change structure of settings, menus and so on? I can not find any programs folder :unsure: ...

I owe Mio A701 and I don't plan to buy new device BUT... I just want to wish you GOOD LUCK with cooking new ROMs for E-Ten devices. This has been really needed because I think E-Ten devices are good machines but it's quality is poor because of bugs in ROMs :/
So GOOD LUCK folks!!!
