Found I now have the same problem here from today.
Bought the phone 3 weeks ago and now the microphone and internal speaker does not work unless I push a paperclip in the headphone socket to break the circuit each time after useing headphones.
Poor quality components that doesnt appear to have been addressed in the manufacturing process...

How many more people are there out there with this problem ? A lot I think...

Hello everyone,

Has anybody figured out a "permanent solution" to this problem? I am getting ready to toss this phone out of the window. Thanks a lot!

Could someone please do up a step by step tutorial on the paper-clip method?

I have tried both leaving the battery out, hard resetting and the paperclip - but the problem remains!

Argh. The only option i have is to either use the headset, or switch the speaker to on when making phone calls.

While not a permanent solution, it may ne better than using a paperclip. If you can find a stereo 2,5 mm plug you could wire it to jumper the connections together. It's a little ugly in that you have to leave the plug in the unit, but it will look better than a paperclip.

I think I cannot help you, but I will try it though :-)

I had the same problem with my x500, opened it an tried to do the paperclip trick. And it worked. I just put the end of the paperclip in every whole around the 2,5mm connector I found and after that, it worked perfectly again. I hope that it will not happen again, but I am quite aure that it will... and this time I will test it out how exactly it works. But for now, I cannot tell you more than: keep trying.

Same here, worked one day and did not the other. Tried the pull out and stick back in method and the
paperclip method, not sure if I found the hole, but either way it did not work and I am pretty frustrated
for the $ i paid things need to work.

It took me 6 months of being bothered by this issue. Today I am a convert to blue-tooth using iTech RADIO clip. Good bass, battery life and improved phone quality. Seems that 2.5 mm adapter need quality improvement across all the PDA phone brands.

This morning I used the headphone for the first time, guess what....
No sound from speakers anymore. Tried to plug/unplug the headphone, no luck. Tried the paperclip method, still no luck.
What I am not sure of is where to poke. I have a M700 and the inner layout is slightly different than the X500....
Could someone point me to the right hole/procedure ?

Thanx.

For those having this headset jack issue, you may want to try out the software utility I posted (from the original x500 ROM) in http://eten-users.eu...showtopic=10708 that allows you to basically override the headset jack detection switch in software. This may work for you
