If you want to revert the original phonepad back, just go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Security/Phone/Skin, there you have to find key "Enable" and change value from "1" to "0". If you want to put back new phonepad, change the value back to "1".

CAUTION 1:
I'm not a developer from Eten or from Microsoft. I can only reduce or remove unusable things from the ROM and add some useful things.

CAUTION 2:
Before upgrading install this SDHC.cab and try if your microSD card will be read. Some the oldest microSD cards cannot be read. In such case uninstal SDHC.cab and don't upgrade! (another reason why your card cannot be read is, that you haven't formated your card into FAT16. It is important!)

HOW TO UPDATE:
1) Synchronise or backup your data)
2) Copy the following files to the root of your freshly formated microSD card (formated into FAT16 filesystem):
- USBDLUpdate_Console.exe
- temp.bin
3) Put SD card (to 2GB capacity) into X500
4) Enter bootloader mode (press and hold Camera button, Record button [the one is close to
vol+/vol- buttons] and Power button; press Reset while keeping all above buttons PRESSED;
keep the buttons PRESSED [except Reset] until X500 shows "USB Downloader ***" etc.)
5) If your card is formated correctly, you should see the following info:
USB Downloader 0019
Flash Capacity=128MB

USB Downloader Ready.
SD Card In
Find SDMMC Card.
File= TEMP BIN
Program Image from SDMMC
[etc]

6) The flashing should start. Wait till it passes "USB host is not connected yet."
) Make a HARD-RESET: remove the battery for a couple of seconds, reinsert it, close the
back cover!!!, press and hold Hangup button (red one;), press Power button. Keep the Hangup
pressed until "Errase all data" question appears. As soon as it pops up, release the Hangup
button and press and hold Left Softkey.
8) Enjoy;)

Could you share how you removed Windows Live Messenger? Which files did you remove?

I didn't do so much changes but the ROM is faster and stable. I removed almoast the all Eten CABs and also some unnecessary things inside the ROM. The big advantage is SD, SDHC patch inside the ROM. Also call delay is gone. I can do the same ROM in French or German if you want. I only need French and German temp.bin or the whole installation. French I'm drawing at the moment. Tomorrow it could be out.

To tariqbamadhaj: You have to extract temp.bin renamed to temp.dat in tools folder named "etenROMimgfs". Then in DUMP folder you will see ROM files. Remove all folders with the name started WLM..... and all files with the same name. Then repack it. That's it.

Is this ROM applicable for X500+ also?

X500 is an E-Ten phone so i don't understand ... ??

At the moment I'm developing some changes and maybe I will be succesful. At the English ROM of course.

New changes:
- I got rid of the annoying "Turn on wifi".
- Wireless manager is now hidden under "E" icon.

- New calculator skin

This is awesome. Do let us know when you have completed this version. And maybe you might want to consider having version numbers for your files so it's easier to keep track of the revisions. Just a suggestion

Update 2 : Why leave the "Skype Receiver Switch" eten included in the rom? It does not work!

If you want to use the sound without being disturbed should be included in the ROM patch "Skype_Switch.cab" panot to put online to post # 45 and older need the "Skype Receiver Switch" eten!

If i try to flash your english image version 2 on my device (originaly a english or WWE device with german wm6 on it), I get "OS Image is NOT compatible with this hardware".
How to circumvent this?

Tried the WWE version with a sandisk 2gb memory card, and I had to use the old driver. So far, it´s working flawlessly.
I´m eargerly looking forward to the next update; keep up the good work.

Finaly someone started to make own versions of wm6. Next step is WM 6.1 and some need to have apps and bud fixes ala XDA style!

To pivert: You are right. Skype Receiver Switch doesn't work, I will remove it from nex ROM update. New version Skype 2.2.0.37 doesn't work as well. I'm using 2.2.0.18.

To Dude: ROM update is on the base official releases ENG, FRE, GER. Maybe you have to use GER version only.

To kourampies: v2 old is very easy to change driver inside. Just unpack, change two files and pack. I will try it to do this weekend.

To pivert: French and German I try it to do next week. I'm preparing for my exam at University. I need some preparation for it.

One can circumvent the language-lock by simply flashing using usb connection and windows xp.
So I was able to flash the english version again. But, unfortunately I could not reinstall my sprite-backup on the english rom. My device died after restore so I switched back to my original german wm6. I'll try this again with a version-two german image as soon as you'll cook it

I put in the v1 with french unlock_upgrade because the dictionary for SMS I needed in french, v2 English works well but not in my language dictionary ....

I tried to revise the French ROM from the base and some new features added. I need someone to test it. If it failed I will do next ROM corrections only in English which I can testing. If it will be functional I wil revise also German. French friends can download it on the first post.

To carval2k: I didn't any changes with the connectivity. I have no problem with this. I'm using Win Vista.

This looks like great work. The only eTen apps I uase are the orange dialer skin for my large fingers and the GSP Satelite update. Are both of those in the new ROM?

hi, im new with all this upgrade. just want to ask, in wm5 we cannot use mp3 as our ringtone without using other software such as mring. if i upgrade to wm6, can i use mp3 as ringtone without using any other 3rd party software? why is this is not implement in the cooked rom? maybe the master here, mr panot can give a try to combine the 3rd party application to be use in the wm6, that will be a much big different in ur cooked version sir. sorry if im wrong.. just newbies here

French V2.5 is not working

Everything works well in the french rom 2.5, but the big problem is that we can not use the phone to call or receive because there is no network, it is impossible to activate the GSM network, not access manager wireless / mobile phone

There is no access with activesync, and windows responds usb not recognized

So that version 2.5 is unusable.

And I said that I did not manage to flash the rom with the SD card, it said to me, 'SDMMC load Fail ", I do so with the application windows unlock_ upgrade

update : I just see that the file is temp.dat the v2.5, I renamed to temp.bin, I will try to flash via SD card I told you in a moment, if everything works

update 2 : Still no access to the GSM network, therefore impossible to use the telephone. I returned to French V1

Anyone managed to get MMS working after installing any of these ROMs? I've tried mms.cab for the M700 with no luck as the settings aren't available. Can't find one specifically for the X500.

What page pool in this Rom?

To pivert: We are creating a good X500 community in this thread. I like it . Total Commander is better, I will try to implement it. I agree that to much applicatipn in the ROM isn't so good. It is better everybody to install what is needed.

To benjy: I don't know if call filter is possible. I had to remove Eten phone application which did unstability of our device and slowed down it's speed.

To theduke: This spb apps it taken from X600 ROM too. This is not a full version and there is no need to activate it. ROM is faster when I removed Quick Link I think.

To North..: To fix MMS settings use MMS.cab. With blank part in contacts menu it will be bad. I don't remember what there were and I have no idea how to fix it.

when you are asked for the activiation code, just press and hold the standby and record button, reset the device and release the buttons when you are in bootloader mode.

I had a terrible ECHO to the other side on the phone, from the first day and after one year of searching and trying everything, AT LAST NO MORE ECHO.

Very nice. I flashed my device with your latest german light image after I decreased page pool size from 8 to 6MB. After first boot my device has about 34.xMB free ram.

To Qal3awy: Call delay I removed when I removed Eten phone apps from ExtROM and changed RilGSM file inside ROM. I know that Rapidshare isn't sou good for multiple downloading but I have there Collector's-Zone where I can see what I gave for sharing. I'm making too much versions and it takes me up much time. Just wait an hour and download from Rapidshare again. In the next time I will try to upload to other places too .

To Tasos Greece: Echo is problem which is not solved even by Eten .

To North...: There is only change vith GSM. I changed RilGSM file in my ROM. Which version it is I don't know but it doesn't matter.

To Glofiish_X500: Problem with the camera? It is strange, I didn't any changes with the camera. Maybe I romoved some file by mislake. Is there anybody who was camera working in German version?

To Warmbooter: Yes, there is big chance if somebody will make it . I can try it make also but it depends on my free time.

I used english v2.5. I removed the SPB mobile shell because I use SPB pocket plus, and there is no need for both. One question about skype switch - I loded the CAB you linked above, and the box is now checked but geyed out, so not possible to change (uncheck) it. Do you really run everything including skype from installation directory on the SDHC card? I thought I did that one time & skype wasn't happy on the card.

Good evening Panot and the forum .
Excuse my english I am French.
I have well flashed my X500 with V 1. But when I want flashed with V 2.5, all it passed well, but at the end, the flashing will begin all alone and was stop to 1400000. I remove the battery, and reinsert it.
But since, my screen is black and the LED of Power bouton is red if I press on the Power button.
I repeat the process but nothing
How to make for restart my X500.

J'ai bien flasher mon X500 avec la V1.
Quand j'ai voulu flasher avec la V 2.5, tout c'est bien passé, mais à la fin, le flashage à recommer tout seul et s'est arrèté à 1400000.
J'ai retiré le batterie, et l'ai remise.
Mais depuis, mon écran est noir et le LED de charge clignote rouge si j'appuis sur le bouton Power.
J'ai essayer de refaire le process, mais il ne ce passe rien
Comment faire pour redemarer mon X500.

I am also very satisfied with this "Light" ROM (WWE). I only have one problem.

On the right top, the time-icon is changed to a battery-icon. Is it possible to change it back?

To North... and 3zero2: You are right, there is some problem with MMS menu. I will look at it.

To cjk95: By pressing and holding left soft key, you shoud see in popup "YES". Maybe you pressed right soft key.

To x500wm5: The 2 missing menu option in contacts menu I saw also but I don't remember what there were. Maybe some application what I removed.

To Jan R: On the right top, the time-icon and battery-icon were changed to default. It is possible to change it back by installing Eten apps which I removed . This is default settings and I think that it is not so major problem. According to me it looks like better.

I have tried the version 2.6 with WLM.
This version of WLM is very buggy:
- Connexion is done thru EDGE/GPRS even is wifi is available

So I revert to install a french version without WLM and install an independant english version of WLM.
Thank you for your job. I was not aware that the version of WLM included in the orignal ROM was not functional.

hi, a question: where can i find the rilgsm.log file? i have the problem that i sometimes cannot make a call, it dials but suddenly a short beep and the connection is lost (during the dial). perhaps the logfile makes some sence

To Gabriel Vey: It is strange because as you can see, Scotchy49 has no bugs. It is the same version. and there are only some improvements no other changes. I'm using skype and it works properly via wifi.

To Scotchy49: It is great that you are satisfied. If I safed you so much money, you can donate me at least by half . To this time nobody has appreciated my work like that. It is a joke of course, it is free and it depends on everybody how to appreciate my efforts.

To x500wm5: In WWE version I haven't found any bugs to this time.

The only issue is with WLM
it seems that this version is very buggy... and the 'live update' fixes most of them.
So I prefer to use the version without the WLM... and install the live update that adds WLM... in english.

Panot listen, i've been using Destinator 7 and my basic configuration before using ur rom was: Hard Reset without any ETEN PREI apps at all,just clean windows installation with 6mb pool size and deleting all PREI apps form windows folder(12mb Hehe!).Then i had to install manually the following: HTC SDHC patch (from Kingston512microSD FAT16 so that my SANDISK 4gb SDHC would be recognized.After that, from ETEN PREI apps only Etmergex(in this cab there is also PhoneService2.0 and this was one reason out of this cab making my device perform slower),Gpsviewer,Satellite Data Update and battery patch.And the rest for an HTC Touch look,HTC Home,HTC Task Manager,HTC Today Theme (Grey) wm5torage,pocket mechanic,sktools.

Destinator performance was kind of better than sluggish and slow.Medium is the word.I was pleased that SirfIII GPS and Destinator 7 were working together.
Since i tried ur 2.5wwe which obviously didn't have etmergex = PhoneService2.0 Destinator performance was better than best! Speech and Graphics movement as close as realtime!

So because i didn't have the time to cook a rom with my prefered apps due to family and work obligations it is needless to say that this was a pain in the A*S every time that i had to hard reset the device!

So Panot a BIG THANK YOU for ur effort to making this Fast and Stable ROM!

err.. is anyone face this problem or it just me? when im sending sms, ther will be a msg saying "Cannot recognize one or more recipients or the address is not valid. Would you like to send the messege anyway?". Othe sms still sent if i choose yes, but it quite anoying to reconfirm everytime i want to sent sms.

fiy, im using my phone book that i have use in wm5. im not using active sync to reload it, just copy back my pim.vol from my backup.

other than that, not found any problem with wwe v2.6 and of coz i feel more faster. big thanks to panot for this great rom

Hey the sms face is really cool,better than the ordinary plain white screen that sometimes in the dark gives you the feelling that you have just directly looked at the sun!

Btw the echo is gone because u removed all prei apps and to be specific as i said in a previous post PREI_ETMERGEEX_ENG.CAB is the main reason for the echo...try installing this cab after you make a hard reset and you will see that this is what echo actually sounds like! This is the file that also installs scenarios,zoom sms,call filter and...PhoneService2.0!

after the "call delay" feature been explained thanksfully by Panot...

i did my own small research about this....

some ppl were talking about a problem associated with it, which happend to SOME of them

apparently... some of them were sometimes getting no sound for the ringtone when recieving the calls...

and because its important issue for me as i depend my PDA as a phone and i am recieving some important calls that i cant afford to miss...

for that i tested that by calling myself from other phones... it was ringing ok and no problem at all.. ( BTW i am using V 2.5 of lighted rom)

BUT...

today i was working on my pc and my X500 was near me when i recieved a text messege "SMS"... it was from my friend , who apparently called me twice 1 min ago before sending the SMS , i saw the 2 miss call , but never heard the phone ringing.

someone else called me an hour later but it was ringing ok...

WHAT I WANT TO SAY FROM ALL THIS..

there may be some times which u recieve phone calls without sound because of the files changed to remove the "call delay"...

i am not 100% sure about it.. this is yet to be tested and confirmed by me and other members.. but i think this is true .. as i didnt heard my friends 2 calls, but i heard the sound of notification for the SMS

i really LOVED ur rom Panot, and i would like to help testing it for that issue,

but for now i think i am going to upgrade my device to an offical rom after writing this post, untile this figured out.. cause i am waiting some important calls in the morning " its night where i live "

I noticed something last night while i was using my device,not a big issue but you could name it a minor bug for a next version.
In landscape mode if you go to messaging the new sms face,the image you used is the same for portrait, and strectches in result of not beeing able to see those nice little @@
I don't mind at all about this because for me the overall work you did for cooking this rom is more than enough!
I also wanted to ask you if its possible to post a rom which doesn't contain any 3d party or ETEN apps but keep default apps like WLM, a 'clean' WM6.
In this way we can find many answers regarding various questions we have with some software.

That is good news also...by considering it again makes me think that it would save you time and space if you cooked all the roms you cooked without WLM and if anybody really wanted to use WLM then he/she could download the WLM cab to his/her device and install it.

As for the language i prefer wwe even though my language is greek because everything i know regarding software/hardware are in english and its difficult but not impossible for me to understand technical stuff in my own language!

And if you can rename SDMMC i have a suggestion for a new name: SDHCMMC! its the first name that came to my mind! ofcourse the reason is obvious mate! SDHC support in your rom! Tell me what you think.

My x500 is much faster now. Just one thing: now when I sync with XP my wireless connection on the notebook starts to on and off. Any clue why is that? Before didn't do that.

Yes, voip was disabled by eten tho' it is or originaly was integrated into wm6 by ms itself. So it would by nice idea to integrate it back to our light-rom. But using viop you still have the problem with the speaker: it uses the external only if you not plug in the headset. sadly the skype speaker switch does not work here...

You free up around 10MB of internal storage space by deleting the "PREI" files.

Tried the 2.6 version. Very easy to install.

Note :
You can remove you "CAUTION 2: Before upgrading ..." because it is working with non SDHC memory card. BTW I was mistaken because like you said, with my old MicroSD and the new drivers, I could not read anymore the card. So I had to buy a new one. BUT, this new one cannot be formated in FAT16. (windows does not allow it). So I tried to copy the files on my "old" 1Go card... and the installation worked perfectly.

Don't worry about bricking your device. It isn't possible. I'm uploading at the moment original 543ROM to reflash your X500plus device it it is needed. I flashed my Glofiish more that 40 times during testing and no problem. I need somebody to try flashing his device because I have no possibility to test it. There can be some major bug and corrected ROM cannot start to flash. I did copie like tested X500 2.8 ROM. For that reason you can reflash with original ROM and you will have your device like before. There is original ROM if coocked ROM doesn't start to upgrade process.

Got some feedback on the 2.9 beta for the X500+ from one of my readers. Here it is:

- Buttons in phone application are smugged (you cannot read what is on them). Might they not be VGA ?
- Calculator does not start. Instead returns: " Error. Cannot load skin file. \Windows\SpbCalc_P_vga.gif".
- RAM is only 23.45 Mb after reset
- First start screen that was showing phone model an ROM number is now black
- Additional apps installer says "SPB Moblie Shell" Sorry for the neatpicking.

Press and hold these three buttons and while you holding these buttons, press softreset and you must enter to bootloader mode. Then automaticaly will start upgrade process. I did it 40 times.

Size of the card shouldn't be a problem. I flashed mine without a problem (SanDisk 2gb).
Have you tried pulling out the battery and letting it drain, than turning on the device?


If that's successful you could try to flash it from USB rather than through SD card. all you need to do is to change the extension of the temp.bin file to temp.dat file. Copy the temp.dat file, EUU.exe and USBDLUpdate_Console.exe file to C:|Documents and Settings\%profile%\Local Settings\Temp and than run the EUU from there once ActiveSync connection is established. Hope this helps.

Panot, I think thenenenea maybe right. I have just downloaded the newest ROM built from the rapid share. Whenever I try to flash it via USB, install fails with attached error. It worked fine earlier when I tried it (post 275).

my heart beats faster while reading EDGE Download status: 782kb and counting....
hopefully i can pass this ROM upgrading..

I would recommend an other denotation for x500+ rom. Something like 2.9+ for X500+ and 2.9 for x500.

okay, after few hours reinstalling my fav applications, finally i found something missing. but i dont know whether it's just a device dependent or one of many applications that you shut down from installation files.

the application that i missed was mobile banking from my GSM/simcard. hence, it's there from previous rom with the name of sim toolkit. but now, it's gone. my question, is this because of new rom or just my sim card problem? i tried to shut down x500, put out both of battery and sim card and reinsert them all again with no luck. any advice?

I think if this fatal ROM was from x500 then I don't find any compatible ROM from x500+

I think we should separate posts regarding lightrom of X500+ from X500. This will avoid confusion and the mixing of bug reports of diferent ROMs. A new thread should be started, just for X500+ versions.

To Panot: Maybe a good set of building scripts will make your life easier. If you get enough donations, you may try some more advanced building tool, like Finalbuilder. I will try the new ROM for X500+ in this weekend...

Hi Panot,

I've been using the last couple of days v2.8wwe and i noticed that it's slower than with v2.6wwe.
Maybe Java,MMS,Total Commander or something else made the decrease in speed?

Anyhow reverted to v2.6wwe and today i wanted to play a 3gp file previously recorded from my x500.
File Does not play and Media Player message follows: 'No cobination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection'

So probably the codecs are missing...any resolution to this,where i can find the codecs for media player?

Anybody else facing the same issue?
